The Crime Analysis Unit tracks crimes and associated arrests as a key component for the department’s Intelligence-led policing model. Our officers use this data to identify patterns, trends, and areas of concern in developing strategies to address crimes, many of which can be prevented or deterred through education, additional patrols, and other proactive measures. Through tactical, strategic, and administrative analysis, we can see crime trends or hot spots and find ways to lessen or prevent them.

The Crime Analysis Division strives to:

  • provide timely, accurate informational support to line operations and investigators
  • maintain an accurate crime and suspect database
  • keep the public informed of crime series or patterns, and determine how to prevent future incidents
