The Sumter Police Department Warrant Division serves warrants and subpoenas issued by the City of Sumter Municipal Court. They also serve the court on city court days by providing a court bailiff and a transport officer. The Warrants Division is also responsible for the extradition of wanted individuals that are held in other jurisdictions.

Types of Warrants

Arrest Warrant

A warrant signed by a Judge, which requires an individual to be transported to the Detention Center for booking, photographs, fingerprints and issue an arrest ticket for bond hearing and court.

Courtesy Summon Warrant

A warrant signed by the Judge on behalf of an individual. A written citation with a court date is issued to the recipient, and the individual is released.

Bench Warrant

A warrant signed by the Judge when an individual fails to comply with a summons to appear. The individual can payout the total fine amount or be transported to the Detention Center to serve the time.
